The Libertine Cocktail was first mixed by Chief Mixologist Mariena Mercer at the Chandelier Bar. Located in the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas, the Chandelier Bar is a crystal-draped, three-level bar and lounge each with their own unique menus. Mercer, who is known for her creativity, balanced flavors and texture originally created The Libertine with Maker’s Mark Kentucky Straight Bourbon. The original cocktail recipe earned her First Place in the Maker’s Mark Mixology Competition.
While not simple to make, our take on The Libertine Cocktail swaps bourbon with Gold Bar Whiskey and is well worth the effort! This Libertine Cocktail is certainly what you would expect when you combine an award winning American whiskey with an award winning cocktail recipe – full of flavour, enjoyable to drink and a perfect holiday cocktail.
For simple syrup, pour equal parts water and sugar in a small saucepan. Heat all ingredients until fully dissolved, stirring often. Add one sprig of rosemary and bring simple syrup to a boil, continuing to stir. Remove from heat and let cool.
Discard the boiled rosemary and pour 2oz of simple syrup into a cocktail shaker with 4oz Gold Bar Whiskey, 2oz fresh lemon juice, and orange marmalade. Add ice and shake ingredients until mixed and chilled then strain into a highball glass filled with more ice.
Add maple syrup, orange juice, and egg white to the shaker and shake ingredients until frothy. Spoon froth over top of the cocktail and garnish with the remaining sprig of rosemary.
